Photography Tour of the Botanical Gardens Amsterdam
I love to experience museums, tours and “different things to do” on vacation so when my husband suggested a photography tour of Amsterdam’s Botanical Gardens, I was excited. We both in the last year purchased cameras to help document our travels for the web site but most importantly our memories to share with everyone. However, we needed to learn a little, okay a lot, more about how are camera’s work. The best way to learn is from a professional and the most fun way to learn is while you are traveling! Our photography tour of the Botanical Gardens Amsterdam of the Netherlands was booked with Anni Maarit at Aperture Tours

Experiment with our Cameras
As we entered the beautiful Botanical Gardens our guide brought us into the greenhouse. Anni explained to us how the best way to learn photography was to take it off auto mode and place it in manual mode. Scary, yes but we soon found out it is so worth it. He then explained to us what aperture was and how to use it for great photos. Basically, aperture is the amount of light you let in, more light- the faster the camera shutter speed too. We began to practice under Anni’s instruction and soon we were getting the hang of it.
Here are 13 outdoor photography tips that will help make you feel more comfortable with your camera and take great photos!
Light for our Photography
As we walked through the different areas of the botanical gardens we practiced with our cameras. Anni was right by our side to look at every photo we took to help us make the photo more clearer, lighter or darker. Some garden areas we were in shaded gardens, to capture the little light that was available could be difficult. As you can see in my photos, I need more practice!
A Perfect Day
We could not have chosen a better day to visit the Botanical Gardens. The sun was shining, the sky was a spectacular blue and the flowers were all in bloom. To put a perfect end to our photography tour we stopped by the gardens cafe. We each enjoyed a glass of wine to toast Amsterdam, Amsterdam’s Botanical Garden and our tour! Proost!

Wow you did really well with the photography tour. I see why people choose botanical gardens for photography lessons. I think the variety of colors and combination of light and shadow is what makes it a perfect studio

A photography tour sounds like so much fun! I’ll have to try to find one for my next trip. I’ve been wanting to learn more about photography – especially about how to shoot with manual settings – and this sounds like a really fun way to learn!

Absolutely love it there! Have been a few times, and honestly, I always end up walking around for a good hour just looking at the tags to see the different places they’re from and to feel the different temps of each room.
