Off to Greece and The Hotel Grande Bretagne
The decision to go to Greece was long over due for my husband Kevin and I. Since I was young I have always been fascinated with the historic architecture and Greek Gods Mythology. I just knew I would one day be able to visit Greece. The dream came true and we were off to spend a wonderful 20 day holiday in Italy and Greece. Our stay for Athens Greece was to be the famous Hotel Grande Bretagne!
We started our trip in Venice for a few days and then headed down on a flight to Athens. As we flew over Athens I held my breathe as I looked out the window. We finally have made this bucket list item.
We landed and received our first Greek welcome:

We quickly retrieved all our luggage and headed to our hotel. I am positive there are many words to describe our hotel, but if I had to use only one I would go with MAGNIFICENT!!! As you enter the HOTEL GRANDE BRETAGNE (web page))you know you are somewhere really special. The lobby area is stunning. Checking in was efficient with a very friendly and accommodating staff. We were soon shown to our beautiful room on the second floor.

After we were settling in for a bit, I noticed that a demonstration was happening downstairs in Syntagma Square and the Parliament. Consequently, the timing of our trip happen to be when Greece was in the transition of changing their money to Euro’s. We were a little concerned that the demonstrations may continue for our entire two nights in lovely Athens. For this reason I called downstairs to the front desk and asked if there was a room available on a higher level. We were told that they were presently fully booked but they would see what they could do.

Views and Delicious Food
Meanwhile, we went up to the top floor of the hotel to their award winning GB Roof Garden restaurant (read more) . Waiting only a short time for a table looking out over the Acropolis, Lycabettus Hill and the Parliament was worth it! I felt like I was in a movie seeing these awe-inspiring views. The food and wine were everything we expected and more (look for Kevin’s food blog soon).
After our very filling and satisfying dinner we made our way down to the front desk to check just on the chance that we could be relocated. As we approached the desk the Manager and a young lady had huge smiles on their faces. We asked about the status of our room. They reported that they had something very special for us and could they please have our permission for their bellhops to retrieve our luggage and bring it to our new room. We of course agreed and next we were headed up in the elevator with the Manger.

Could not ask for more!
As the door to our new room was opened I pretty much just stood there. I was in shock on the suite that they had us enter. With fine details to everything; furniture, bathroom, flowers, champagne waiting…everything! Two balconies with the same marvelous view as the roof top restaurant!

Unfortunately, my photographs do not do our suite justice. We were so excited to be in Athen, as a result, I forgot to take some good photos during the day! Please visit the Grand Hotel Bretagne Rooms and you will be able to suite the amazing suites they have! And the best part…included was out own Butler 24/7 for anything we wanted or needed!
Time to Leave
Our last day in Athens we decided to go up to the roof top pool and GB Pool Bar and restaurant. Again, no disappointment here, beautiful day with stunning views! We fully enjoyed our lovely stay at the Grand Hotel Bretagne. Beauty, hospitality and location were everything that we could of wished for and received in Athens!
